Barrettes:
Special products require special care. To maintain the wooden barrette's satin matte finish rub hard over the barrette surface with the corner of a lint free cloth (cotton t-shirt). Cradle the barrette so that it is supported during this procedure. This will remove fingerprints and other surface contamination. As you would not spray a wooden coffee table with hair spray these barrettes do not like hair spray either. However, if hair spray does get on the barrette, the same rubbing process can be implemented.... It will take a bit of elbow grease to remove the spray specks. A great idea is to cover the barrette with your hand while you spray.

Do not wear your wooden barrette in the shower, place them in wet hair or expose the barrette to direct heat (dash of car in summer or by a heater for example). The barrettes are made from wood and the laminations are glued together. Either of the above situations will compromise the integrity of the product.

Pewter:
Use mild soap on a wet cloth. This will return the pewter surface back to its pristine condition. A Jewelers Cloth can also be used.
